Sri Saligrama Ramaswamy |
Sri.Saligrama Ramaswamy born on 27th October 1888,A brilliant student that he was, after primary education in Mysore and B.A. from Madras University, secured second rank in B.E., Civil degree from Poona College of Engineering. Even as a student he had the proud privilege of teaching engineering subjects in his college. From 1913 to 1943 he served the then Mysore State Government with great distinction and honesty and an endless list of his achievements. Apart from being a higly respected and distinguished engineer, he was deeply interested in fine arts like drama, painting etc, and was himself proficient in playing flute, tabla and harmonium.After retirement as Superintending Engineer from P.W.D in 1943. He was Principal of NIE for full twelve years, and nurtured his brainchild with utmost care and affection till he passed away on 22nd October 1958. |
Sri D.V.Narasimha Rao was born in August 1889. Sri D.V.Narasimha Rao was the son of Palace Control Officer Sri D.Sitha Rama Rao and Smt.Rajalakshmi. He graduated in civil engineering from Poona Engineering College. Sri.D.V.Narasimha Rao acquired great expertise in design and construction of railway works. His achievements elevated him to the rank of Chief Engineer of the then Mysore State Railways. After retirement in 1945, he became NIE's torchbearer as the founder secretary, leading to safety during its initial difficult periods. He felt a sense of fulfillment having seen the growth of NIE as one of the prestigious engineering institutions of the country and during his lifetime a witness to its silver jubilee celebrations in 1972. He passed away in 1975. |

Sri D.V.Narasimha Rao |

Sri T.Rama Rao |
Sri T.Rama Rao (1891-1965) born in September 1891, Sri T.Rama Rao was the eldest son of Sri Nanjundiah and Smt.Durgamma. He graduated from Poona Engineering College. Sri.T.Rama Rao started his career in the then Madras State Cauvery Reservoirs rain gauging works. He served the Mysore State Government and also supervised civil works of the world famous KRS dam. After retirement as Executive Engineer in 1946, he also joined hands with Sri S.Ramaswamy, and Sri D.V.Narasimha Rao. He was the Principal between 1958 and 1959. He was instrumental in developing and expanding NIE's library. Married to Smt.Sannamma in 1910, he had eight sons and five daughters. It is a fitting tribute to his sacrifice for NIE that one of his sons Dr.T.R.Seetharam is the former Principal. Sri.T.Rama Rao was a simple, kind hearted, pious man with deep interest in philosophy and 'Adhyatma'. He was the president of Hoysala Karnataka Sangha. He passed away in May 1965. |
