- Many of us have experienced the phenomenon of our keen desire to call on our friend. We put off the event for one reason or other. Thus days coalesce to weeks and months and before year pass. Then it becomes too late. However coming of new Millennium has served as a warning to us before we get caught up in that syndrome. We have now resolved not to fall into that familiar trap and are determined to brake the ice. So dear alumnus, we carve your indulgence. Please bear with me for this editorial will be trifle long because, I have to encapsulate so much that have past since we last addressed you. We know you are angry and have lot of questions. Questions we are unable to answer. You have a right to upbraid us for this prolonged silence, absence of news, not keeping in touch. And finally you ask at point blank range as to why you should evince interest and what has the association done to foster espirit de corps amongst the alumni. All legitimate posers
- Is there has been failure on our part to keep the channels of communication open during the past seven years, during which the association revived its activities, we have achieved some measure of success to put the affairs of the Association on an even keel. We have, so to say, now reached a take-off stage. Elsewhere in this newsletter a brief account of notable developments and activities have been given. An organisation like ours derives its substance by voluntary involvement for a greater goal in terms of being a part of bigger fraternity sharing our thoughts, ideas, interacting and eventually be able to serve the society which educated us. If there is a material gain it is only the by-product. In that sense, we hope that you will all response in future with greater involvement. From 1946 while India was on the treshold of Independence, N.I.E was a fledging institution under a thatched roof. It graduated as a full fledged Engineering College in 1950 even as India became a Republic. After completing the Golden Jubliee N.I.E has moved into a new complex. It was inaugurated on 17th October 1999 by the illustrious alumni, Er. N.R. Narayana Murthy of Infosys and Er N. Ramanuja, Chairman of HMT was the Chief Guest.
