During the 50s, mere request was sufficient to make an old student join the NIEAA, it now requires quite a bit of justification on our part to answer the question from an old student: why should I join the NIEAA?
We do not resent this question. On the other hand we welcome it. For, while answering this question we are lead to developing useful NIEAA in the long run.

• The first and the most longstanding benefit as highlighted by the main objective of the Association when it came into existence: continued contact with your classmates, your seniors and your juniors as and when they pass out.  After studying in NIE for five years (or four), you would have acquired friends among your classmates and got to like some teachers too. Should this friendship which intimacy brought forth be allowed to fade away? Rather, you would like to cherish it in your heart and seek opportunities of renewing the contact if you could do so.  NIEAA is primarily meant for this purpose.

• The Association will gather the news about its members periodically and pass it on to all the members. It will keep track of transfers, promotions, and change of employment, of wedding bells ringing for some or of sweet cries of infants born to others.

• Through the Association you could have contact with the College and the University. NIEAA will gladly act as a liaison between you and the College or the University wherever necessity arises.

• When you have an opportunity of visiting Mysore in an official capacity or if you feel like making a sojourn with your family, we will be here to receive you, and render any help. In fact, we are thinking of putting up a Guest House for you to stay while in Mysore and feel at home.

  All these NIEAA promises to do for you.
